 Boot Shopping Could Be Fun? Linda Sellers I'm really not a fashion wannabe. If the sweater and jeans don't make me look like I just woke up in my Grandmother's closet or my daughter's for that matter, I'm pretty much OK with them. But that doesn't mean I ignore the obvious. The "oh, my gosh, why would you ever put THAT on your body?"Even my body. That also goes for shoes though I have to be a little more picky and even less trend conscious because my footsies are destined to ache in anything but uber-comfortable or ergo-pedi-friendly. And my footsies have been a little cold lately which doesn't usually happen. So when my daughter and I went out shopping this past weekend at the discount stores, I was tickled to find some cute little waterproof booties. They weren't going to set the fashionistas on fire, but they also weren't going to have Stacy and Clinton beating down my door.  So I thought. I asked my daughter for an opinion. "Well, they aren't bad. I mean I guess when I'm your age I'll probably dress like that too. You know, and wear a fanny pack." Smarty pants. Wish I were 19 so I would have the perfect 19 year old comeback. "What would you wear?", I asked. "Don't you like these?", she responded. (picks up imitation UGG boots) "No, I like these better" (me on the defensive) "Uh, yeah, whatever" (snark) "But do you see what's showing below the jeans, do you?" (yes and it looks quite snazzy...black nylon is a good look for me...phhh...) I could have bought them anyway. I could have given in and bought the "UGG" style boots and been a clone of the Richmond UGG/Northface Society. Or I can do what I always do. Wait until she goes back to College, and then order them online. I know, totally my fault. I took her in the first place...in the end, no booties, cold feet, and praying for a Richmond heat wave.
