Celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Virginia Folk Music Association at the Annual Bluegrass Festival and Virginia State Bluegrass Championship Contest, Sept. 11-14, at the Chesterfield County Fairgrounds, 10300 Courthouse Road. The four-day event includes performances by James King, Alecia Nugent, Sonny Mead, Code Blue and Hard Drivin’ Grass, as well as a potluck dinner on Thursday, Sept. 11, and a Hall of Fame induction celebration and Heights of Grass reunion show on Friday, Sept. 12. Musical performances begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13, with Lonesome Will Mullins. The Bluegrass Championship Contest will be held on Sunday, Sept. 14, and will award a $1,000 prize to the first-place band.
