Finding Some Richmond Fun Cameron Walker At the beginning of every month I search through as many online calendars and magazines as I can to find events that I think are fun. Once I think I have found things that are of interest to me I get out MY calendar and pencil in each and everything that I want to do. So, as you know, today is June 2, meaning that I have already had one entire day to find my June events (I’m fully aware that this may sound strange). Here are a few that I wanted to share. I thought these would be perfect for almost anyone to check out. June 6 | First Friday ~ If you have never been to one of the First Fridays you MUST!!! June 6-8 | Virginia’s Special Olympics holds its Summer Games. The annual event is held at U of R. This is a great way to volunteer your time. If you need information check out http://www.specialolympicsva.org. I have volunteered before and I must say it is SO much fun. June 13 | Moonlight Magic Wine Tasting ~ A night of wine, music and light food at the James River Cellars. All proceeds benefit VCU Massey Cancer Center. This is another great way to spend money for a good cause! June 15 | Happy Father’s Day ~ Let’s not forget our DADS!!!!! June 21 | Veggie Fest 2008 ~ Enjoy food, music, speakers and more at Bryan Park’s Azalea Gerdens. For more information you can go to http://www.veggiefest.org I’ve never been but I think it sounds yum. June 21 | 7th Annual Summer Solstice Wine Festival ~ James River Cellars and the Richmond SPCA team up to host wine tasting, live music and lots of pets. Pet admission benefits the Richmond SPCA. As one of the biggest animal lovers...if you like music, wine and LOVE animals this is a great event for you!

Comments I have to tell you that my friends and I went to the SPCA event at the James River Cellars last year and it was a BLAST. It was packed, the wine was flowing and we really did have the best time just hanging out on the grounds sipping some vino. In fact, the SPCA drew such a crowd that they decided to team up for more events. YEA! I’m definitely putting this down in PEN on my calendar. (Forget pencil. This one’s a staying put in my datebook.) posted by The_Pud |
