Spying On Suburbia: Baked Cookies

Baked Cookies

Some woman that I do not know baked me cookies today.  I am lying in my bed taking tiny bites of this thin crunchy yet chewy homemade cookie.  It has bits of toffee and crasins in it and some chocolate and oatmeal.  I have a whole tin of these and she made them for my family, along with stuffed shells and a home made salad where she even diced the tomatoes and cucumbers and she bought a loaf of bed too.

She sent an email to me today saying she could be at our home at 630pm and asked if that was OK because she had to run home from work, grab this meal and then pick up her child and drive here…she asked me if that was OK.

Think about that…just sit there and think about it…it is more then OK.  It is proof that good people are out there doing nice things for people they don’t even know.  Having a meal made for your family during a time of stress, sickness or in our case, a new addition to the family is unbelievably helpful.  I had never thought that things like this went on, that people so selfless exist and do such great things for one another.  I watched it happen for my mother. All these people rallied around my parents and made sure that they were fed during her chemo treatments, and now this with the baby.

These are not the same people, not even the same town, but it is the same proof of goodness in our world.  A small sign that at the end of the day, no matter what your day was, no matter what HER day was, someone made cookies with thought, care and love for someone they don’t even know.  I look over these delicious morsels and wonder if this brought her joy like it has me.  Every bite I take, every little crumb, will be a reminder that people are good…remember that during these crazy times…people are good, they want to be and that I need to do this for someone oh, and that I need to hide these baked goods from my kids ASAP.  I mean, they are just too good to share…

Imperfect E 
