The year has come to an end.  Now it is time to take a look back at some of the biggest celebrity moments of 2008!

Let’s take a look at our top 5 celebrity weddings! 

5.  George Takei & Brad Altman wed in Los Angeles on September 14.  Takei, the former Star Trek actor, 71, wed his long time partner, Altman, 54.  This Buddhist ceremony gets two thumbs up in my book!

4.  Heidi Montag & Spencer Pratt tie the knot in Mexico.  Heidi Montag, 22, and Spencer Pratt, 25, from The Hills claim they tied knot.  Did they really?  Or, is this another so-called reality show scheme to boost ratings?  Personally, I smell a scandal!

3.  Ashlee Simpson & Pete Wentz get hitched in Encino, California on May 17.  Simpson, 24, and Wentz, 29, said their “I do’s” in an Alice in Wonderland-themed wedding.  Less than 9 months later, they welcomed their first son Bronx Mowgli.  I must say, there’s nothing like a celebrity shotgun wedding!

2.  Ellen DeGeneres & Portia de Rossi exchange vows in Los Angeles on August 16.  DeGeneres, 50, and de Rossi, 35, exchanged vows during an intimate ceremony held in their home with close family and friends.  These newlyweds seem to be the real deal!

1.  Mariah Carey & Nick Cannon surprise the world in the Bahamas on April 30.  After a few weeks of dating and matching tattoos, Carey, 39, wed Cannon, 27, in a secret ceremony held at one of Carey’s estates in the Bahamas.  The two claim to be soulmates.  I think Cannon may be more in love with her money than her diva ways.

2008 was the year to give birth if you were a celebrity!  Let’s take a look at the top 5 celebrity babies.

5.  Christina Aguilera & Jordon Bratman welcomed Max Liron on January 12.
4.  Gwen Stefani & Gavin Rossdale welcomed Zuma Nesta Rock on August 21.
3.  Mathew McConaughey & Camila Alves welcomed Levi on July 7.
2.  Nicole Richie & Joel Madden welcomed Harlow Winter Kate Madden on January 11.
1.  Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie welcomed Vivienne Marcheline & Knox Leon on July 12.  The birth of the Jolie-Pitt twins expanded their brood of four to six!

Although 2008 brought fairytales and happiness to most celebs, we MUST not forget some of the craziest headlines of the year!

10.  Anne Hathaway & Raffaello Follieri call it quits!  After four years of dating, Hathaway found out her man was under investigation for tax irregularities.  Several days after their split, Follieri was arrested by the FBI.  Since the breakup, Follieri has pleaded guilty to 14 counts of fraud, conspiracy and money laundering.  He was sentenced to 41/2 years in prison.

9.  David Duchovny checks into a facility for sex addiction!  Duchovny checked into rehab during the month of August claiming he suffered from a sex addiction.  After his release from rehab in October, Duchovny announced that his marriage to Tea Leoni of 11 years was over.

8.  Miley Cyrus and the Vanity Fair cover shot!  A photo by Annie Leibovitz created quite a stir for Miley Cyrus.  Then, at the age of 15, Cyrus was ridiculed for being to seductive by baring all under a draped sheet.

7.  Christina Applegate beat cancer at the age of 37!  After a double mastectomy in August after a MRI test revealed she had breast cancer, Applegate proudly reports that she has not only beaten the disease but will have the best boobs in the nursing home!  You go girl!!!

6.  Travis Barker & DJ AM (Adam Goldstein) survive plane crash!  Surviving a September 19 plane crash in South Carolina, leaving the two celebrities badly burned, the two have sense then made a full recovery. 

5.  Lindsay Lohan & Samantha Ronson announce their relationship to the public!  The love birds finally decided to make their relationship public with a kiss for the cameras back in May.  The two are constantly seen together and even share matching tattoos.

4.  Clay Aiken announces to the world that he is gay!  It was a big year for Clay Aiken.  He announced to the world that he was gay, introduced his new love interested and welcomed son Parker into the world on August 8.  Congrats to Clay!

3.  Madonna & Guy Ritchie call it quits!  After more than seven years of marriage the two decided to split ways.  Rumors of an affair circulated like wildfire, while the two negotiate Madonna’s estimated $475 million fortune and their two children, Rocco, 8, and David, 3.

2.  Tina Fey plays Sarah Palin!  Fey, Saturday Night Live alum returned to the stage as Gov. Sarah Palin, the V.P. candidate for presidency.  Fey’s skits took SNL to a new level of popularity, making Fey the new “IT” girl.

1.  Britney Spears turns her life from upside-down to upright again!  I think it’s fair to say that Spears should be called the comeback woman of the year!  After two stints in the hospital, the loss of visitation with her sons and her father Jamie Spears was granted conservatorship over her, Spears has managed to come back on top to ring in the New Year.  She has once again been granted visitation rights to her sons, has worked hard to get back into physical shape, was awarded three MTV Video Music Awards in September and released her new album Circus, which debuted at the top of the Billboard 200.
