The Perfect Steak

Lauren Ellington

So last night I marinated and cooked a steak at home.  I had a rather large strip steak which I marinated in garlic, Worcestershire sauce, and a Moraccan spice rub.  Because it was kind of late, I didn’t fire up the grill but rather cooked it on my stove top with olive oil It was very tasty but it got me thinking about what other people think is the perfect steak.

Marinate or not?
Grill or pan?
Strip or tenderloin?

There’s nothing quite as tastey as a tangy, marinated steak on the grill.

Supermarket steaks need marinades. They just don’t have enough flavor. And ribe-eye is king.
If you buy from specialty butcher shops who gets their steaks from the same companies that supply to restaurants, then I’d say there is nothing like a Dry-aged CAB New York strip. And all you need is sea salt and pepper - do not use marinades to ruin the taste.
Tenderloins are overrated, they may be tender but have the least taste.
