TIP # 2: WHAT MAKES PPD DIFFERENT?
The term “Postpartum Depression” is often casually and misleadingly used to describe a wide range of emotional and physical reactions that can occur after childbirth. As a result, normal adjustment and stress are often confused with more serious disorders. It is more important to understand that major depression after childbirth is only one of several major disorders that can occur after childbirth. There are three types of PPD:
Postpartum Blues
* Common
* Usually occurs 1-3 days postpartum
* Resolves within one to two weeks.
Depression
* Usually begins 2-3 weeks postpartum
* Resolves slowly without treatment
Postpartum Psychosis
* Rare
* Rapidly changing state of confusion, agiation

* Avoid being alone
* Stick to your routine
* Take care of your health
* Don’t pressure yourself
* Seek professional help
