I hate John and Kate

Katy Gorman

Call me a downer.  Say I’m a spoil sport.  But I hate John and Kate plus eight.
I know, maybe it’s not very family oriented of me to say that, especially now, so close to Mother’s Day, but oh well.  It is what it is.

I don’t know if it’s John and Kate that I hate, or if it’s just Kate.  Or maybe it’s the way Kate treats John, as though he’s some kind of hired help, that she doesn’t really seem to appreciate (appreciate rhymes with Kate, whom I hate.)

The thing is, John’s not hired help, he’s her husband.  And she’s not paying him, or anyone else, so far as I can tell.  Strangely, it’s us, the viewers, who are paying her, or them, them being John, Kate, their two oldest twin daughters, and the 6 youngest, thus the show’s title, the plus eight part.  Duh.

So I’m not a fan.  Big deal.  I just don’t really understand who would be.  Who wants to tune into chaos, and listen to the ‘chummy’ couple time on camera, sans children, where Kate never misses a chance to tell John how he did something wrong again.  Well, maybe not wrong, only just not right.  Right being her way.  Kate’s.  I hate Kate.  Ugh.  I keep saying that.

Kate is a diva, a queen, in the worst way.  She rules, just because she put herself on some self imposed pedestal, a throne, one that likely reclines, and directs traffic, fault finding toward her worn down husband, and needy, though how can you blame them, children.  Who she acts like she is doing a huge favor toward if she gives them the occasional mommy and me time.  Cameras in tow of course.

I don’t know why there seems to be a kind of John and Kate cult following.  Really, I don’t see the big deal here.  Who wants to watch Kate fold laundry?  Who wants to watch John serve yet another round of pbj’s on paper plates again?

See Kate get highlights.  Wait.  I haven’t seen that, because I don’t watch enough, but I am aware that with all the freebies she seems to be ‘entitled’ to, she should at least be able to step up the quality of her ‘ever so famous’ hair.

So Kate, if you have a minute to read the tabloids, maybe you ought to check out the photos of your over worked, under valued husband out for a night on the town.  Minus you for once.  Only the cameras were there. Not the ones from your ‘crew.’ These cameras were showing a side of him that would never show up on your TLC or whatever network it is that’s buying whatever it is your selling.
